Town Groups

Each town in AC:CF has an assigned group.

There are three groups - A, B and C.

Certain items are more likely to come up in your town, depending on its group, however you will still get items from other groups - they are just less likely to show up.

Note: This mainly applies to items in Tom Nook's shop, and the Able Sisters' Shop. Items from Redd, or other characters such as Sahara are not assigned to a group.

On HTA, if you look at the details of an item, it will tell you which group it belongs to. If the “Group” line does not appear, than that item does not belong to a group, and is equally likely to show up in any town (although items without a group are usually rarer ones).

The only way to determine which group your town is, is to check which items come up most often and compare it to the lists for groups A, B and C.

Interesting Theory: The shapes on your snow may tell town group, as three shapes have been determined: circles, stars and squares. Whether this theory is true, and which shape indicates which group has not been determined.

To calculate your town's group, go to your profile and then select “Calculate Town Group” from the right menu.

Item counts will be shown for the number of items you have in each group. This will only be meaningful if you have checked off the items you own. The items themselves will be shown grouped in lists of A, B and C at the bottom of the page.

Before selecting which group your town is, look through the lists of each group carefully.

The list which has items that you recognize as regularly showing up in Nook's is your town group, not necessarily the list with the most items in it

You could have gotten items from other groups from various sources, so it is important for you to read the lists and manually determine which ones Nook has had for sale. Also, if you have only checked off a small number of items, it may not be the group with the highest number.

You can look through the lists of all items which are A, B, and C by selecting “All Items” in the left menu, and then selecting “Town Groups” from the menu on the right.

By looking through these lists and deciding which one contains items that most often show up in Nook's, you can get a pretty good idea of your town group.

Again, the list which has items that you recognize as regularly showing up in Nook's is your town group.
